Your Questions About Internal Temperatures

Robert asks…Why do terminal alkenes have lower boiling temperatures than internal alkenes?admin answers:Internal alkenes are more stable (and thus have a higher boiling point). We know this through empirical observations - an internal alkene is the major product in elimination reactions, whereas a terminal alkene is the minor product - since these reactions favor the more stable product, we know that the internal alkene is more stable. This is confirmed by the high boiling point.
